Classroom zero waste Art challenge

There is a lot of waste that comes out of a classroom daily—dried-up markers, used tissues, filled-out worksheets, half-eaten snacks and the list goes on. A lot of that trash can feel inevitable. But over the past few years, there are ways that you can work towards a “zero-waste classroom.” Teach your children how to refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose and recycle, and learn about renewable energy in and out of the classroom.

29 Ideas for the zero waste challenge can be found here

General Repurposed Art

Students will spend weeks working on their products. They can make several artistic objects  and ones for personal use. All items should be from waste - pet bottles, paperboard, thread, CDs, records, plastic lids, paper, strings, plastic bags, yoghurt tubs, wool, glass, metal, textile. They can  produce earrings, guitar, bird houses, paper baskets, wind spinners, pictures, clocks etc. By making these new objects, students became more aware of how important the circulation of the waste materials into useful materials economically.
