We are an education-based volunteer organisation focused on helping individuals, schools and communities rethink their relationship with nature through citizen science, research and education.
Our programmes empower individuals and communities to gather and use data to inform policy decisions for the blue economy.
As Ambassadeurs, our goal is to protect the natural resources that sustain us. This, as human activities continue to put enormous pressure on nature with increasing population and an increasingly consumerist lifestyle.
Our focus is on our ocean, because this huge body of water covers more than 70% of earth's surface, is home to approximately one million species of animals and produces up to 80% of Earth's oxygen. However, current human practices present increasing threats to this sustaining lifeforce in the form of pollution, including marine litter, and unsustainable fishing practices.
As Earth Ambassadeurs, our focus is on marine litter. We recognise that the majority (80%) of marine litter comes from land-based sources.. This waste consistently includes plastic, which accounts for up to 90%. The Ambassadeur programme utilises an active action-based approach to problem-solving, which includes research, citizen science, education and policy.
